NEW2U THRIFT SHOP/ LOOTS/ TIPS FOR THRIFT SHOPPING

I am so excited to share with all of you my findings at this thrift store known as NEW2U. It is an amazing shopping experience for me and it is set up by SCWO (Singapore council of Women's Organisations) where the money I paid for my items will be donated for a good cause. I have always wanted to make a trip down there as I have heard of many good reviews from bloggers and finally, I managed to get there by myself from Bugis using google map. I went there on a Tuesday which means that there will be 50% off for all students!:)

The moment I get there, they have a few racks of items being organised really neatly where they sell preloved  items donated by others. The items that they are selling ranges from women's apparels, men's apparels, books, bags, games, shoes and even accessories! It was my first time doing thrift shopping and I am really glad that I have found NEW2U as their price range is really cheap and affordable! The lowest you can get is $1!!! OMG!! Can you imagine that? Some items are really in good condition and they even have branded items from Topshop and Forever 21!

At first, I was a little disappointed as I could not managed to find anything that I like. Furthermore, it was a scorching day and my bag was really heavy. I then decide to search through almost all the racks of clothings thoroughly since I have make my way here. After going through each and every piece of clothing's patiently from the rack, I managed to pick up 3 items which looks really brand new and I really like it!

Office wear black dress
$4 $2

Pink dress with peter pan collar from one of the blogshop named, thescarletroom.
$4 $2

Best buy of the day! Floral long skirt which is my favourite
$8 $4

Total amount I paid after discount: $8

The saddest thing about my purchase is that both dress can't really fit me well and  the pink dress just looks weird on me. Therefore it is better to try it on before making any impulse buy. Nonetheless, it was a great and fun experience for me!:D

Tips to know before you go for thrift shopping:

-Devote your time to search each and every corner of the racks
-Bring a tote bag/ recycle bag to store your purchase
-Do not be afraid to try on the clothings to make sure that it fits you!
-Wear something light and simple to make you feel more comfortable
-Check the items really throughly for any holes/stains before buying the items
-If you really like that clothing that you pick up so much but there is like a missing button or minimal damage that you can mend without much effort, get it!
-Lastly, buy what you need only!:)

To-gather Cafe(Bedok North)

To-gather cafe, a great place to dine in with your friends and family to chilled. They have just extended their cafe which makes it more spacious and I am impressed with the concept of their cafe. I have been wanting to get there for quite some time but do not have the time to do so even though it is just a 10 mins walk away from home haha!

Look at the variety of desserts at To-gather cafe!:) They have chocolate lava cake, green tea lava cake, brownie, tiramisu, cheesecake and mousse. What I like about their cafe is that their food, drinks and desserts are really at an affordable price range and there is no GST!! HOORAY!

Cranberry Cheesecake @ $ 4.50

It's cheesecake with cranberry!! Great combination I must say. However, it is not the best cheesecake I have tasted so far but price is pretty reasonable.

Earl Grey Mousse Cake @ $3.90

Cake was really soft and there is a kind of jelly texture in between the cake. Those that love mousse can give this a try but I'm not really into mousse after trying it.

Matcha Lava Cake w/ Vanilla Ice Cream @ $6.90

This was one of my favourite!! Have always been a fan of matcha. The inner core of the cake is filled up with hot matcha sauce which is totally thumbs up! The sauce is thick and fragrant and it's a must try for all matcha lover. Their ice cream with caramel topping is pretty good too!

NOM-NO OTHER MEANING Cafe

Many have been sharing food pictures of NOM Cafe on instagram (especially their rainbow cake omg). That is when I decided to try out together with my Dad and sis during lunch time. It is located at Macpherson Community Centre which is pretty convenient for me. So...why not make a trip there to try out their highly recommended rainbow cake by many!:)

Oreo Rainbow Cake @ $7.90

This is a must try! Almost every table I see has a rainbow cake. There are different flavors ranging from chocolate, oreo and salted caramel! We decided to go for oreo as we are afraid that salted caramel/chocolate would taste too sweet. Overall, it was a nice cake, soft and fluffy.

Caramel Pecan Cheesecake @ $5.90

Any cheesecake lovers out there? I'm one of them! I love cheesecake and this cake did not disappoint me. It is really rich in texture and tasted super good. Serving was served in a just right portion but I wouldn't mind ordering another one because it tasted damn good.

Ham and cheese/ bacon and egg @ $16.90

They have food such as pizza, light snacks, rosti and burgers. We ordered Half & Half pizza which means that we can choose any two types of pizza listed in their menu. Their crust is thin and hand-rolled by them and I must say it tasted nice and super crispy!! Their egg is soft boiled and it's our favourite too!

Chicken wings with sambal chilli @ $6.90

I'm in love with their sambal chilli right now! It is really spicy and 'shiok'. For the price of this, it may be a little pricey but it was quite worth it as their chicken tasted good and yup there isn't any bloody scene found in every piece of chicken unlike those frozen one's. Altogether, there are 3 wings and 3 drumlets which is just nice for all 3 of us.

We spent a total of $37.60 for our lunch which is pretty decent. The best thing about this cafe is that there is no additional service charge or GST. However, their service was slow at the timing we went which is about 2.30pm. As for their food, it was not bad after all and recommended to try it out.

DIY TOTE BAG IN JUST 4 SIMPLE STEPS

Ever wanted to own a tote bag handmade by yourself which displays your very own set of creativity and uniqueness? Here's how you can do it with less than $10!! Do read on to find out more.

Materials that you'll need:
-Pencil
-Eraser
-Black fabric marker ($3.00) / fabric paint
-Tote bag (Mine was from muji @ $3.90 only)
-Old magazines

Step 1:
Put in old magazines into your tote bag so that you'll have a better surface area to sketch (Do not remove your magazines throughout the entire 4 steps)! You can choose to find some inspiration online or use your own creativity to create your own masterpiece. Using a blunt pencil, sketch out your design onto your plain tote bag. In my case, I have decided to sketch out 2 simple yet meaningful words which helps to remind me that no matter what happens, I will keep going.

Step 2:
After you are done with your sketch, outline your design using a fabric marker. This takes time and patience and you will have to do it slowly and steadily as you wouldn't want to mess up your tote bag. If there are pencil marks on your tote bag, you can erase it using your eraser. The eraser dust however may stick onto your tote bag and the solution to that is to use a scotch tape to remove the eraser dust.

Step 3:
At this stage, you may wish to use fabric paint to fill up the remaining empty spaces. However, I do not have any at home so I just make full use of my fabric marker to fill in the empty spaces. By using fabric marker to cover up such a large surface really takes up a lot of time.

Step 4:
And Tadaaaa! My finished product which I really loved it alot. It so happened that my other bag snapped on me and this comes just in handy for me to carry it around. The total time spent to create this piece took me about 1hr 30 mins as I uses fabric marker. Fabric paint will definitely take a shorter time. I have seen pretty tote bags around that costs about $20-$30 and I am not that willing to spend that amount of money. So, I decided to create my own and spent a total of $6.90 on tote bag and fabric marker! Definitely worth it and felt a sense of achievement after DIY-ing my very own tote bag. As for pencil, eraser and magazines, I believe that most of us have it at home and there's not a need to spend on so you can save that money on other necessity. I hope you guys will find this tutorial useful and you guys might even do a greater job than me!:)

I am...cafe

Went to I am...cafe with a bunch of good friends to try out their main course initially but decided to try out their desserts as it looks so irresistible. Heard from many that their rainbow cake is a must try and indeed it tasted quite heavenly. Layer of rainbow colors stacked with cream cheese in between gives it a great combination, I must say. For those who love chocolate, I would recommend s'more tart as their tart is mostly filled up with chocolate. As for their chocolate salted caramel cake, it was quite good too. Their cake was served in a pretty huge portion as well and it is wiser not to order too many to prevent any wastage of food. All in all, my favourite was their red velvet cake and I will definitely be going back to try out their cakes again and not forgetting their main course.
